Play-Based Learning
The Highland Pre-School program is designed to help foster the growth of the whole child through play-based learning. Our program includes dramatic play, music, movement, games, craft activities, art and stories.
Our goal is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere with varied creative play materials, and a program that will help your child develop a curiosity for the world around him/her and a love of learning!
Playful, Spacious Indoor Classrooms
Highland Pre-School is in a historic building, formerly the McKinley School, built in 1852. The original tin walls and ceilings and oversized schoolhouse windows create a warm, bright, welcoming environment.
Upon entering our school, you will notice the spacious, well-organized, inviting classrooms designed to draw your child in to play.
Magical Outdoor Playground
Our beautiful outdoor play area encompasses 1.5 fenced-in acres. It includes a large grassy field, a wooded area complete with tree house, marimba, sandbox and an area with playground equipment.
The most common word used to describe our outdoor play space is ‘magical,’ and we couldn’t agree more. Our curriculum includes daily outdoor time all months of the year.

Traditional Preschool Classroom
We are pleased to offer two preschool classes in our downstairs classroom.
One class is for 3-4 year olds and the other is for 4-5 year olds.

Montessori Classroom
We are pleased to offer Libra Montessori in our upstairs classroom.
This will be a multi-age classroom for ages 3-6.

“Highland Preschool has been an amazing experience for my daughter! She was old enough to attend Kindergarten; however, she has a fall birthday and we were concerned that being the baby of the family she was not emotionally ready for Kindergarten so we enrolled her in Highland Preschool.
